Glass Blowing Workshop

THE UNIT IN 2014

The ICIQ glass blowing workshop supports the Institute researchers in terms of design, fabrication and repairing of glassware, with the capability of working with borosilicate glass and quartz. In 2014, the workshop was equipped with a new oven, a smaller one, which is more practical when working with small pieces, and consumes much less electricity than the big one. Also, a new polisher was acquired.

The unit manager consolidated his expertise in Schlenck lines: He is now able to blow up to 4 different models. The unit also broke its record in terms of number of repaired and new glassware pieces. All together Xavier Asensio worked on 3073 pieces: 1940 pieces were to be repaired and 1133 pieces were new.
