High Resolution Mass Spectrometry Unit
THE UNIT IN 2014
The High Resolution Mass Spectrometry Unit provides ICIQ researchers with access to state-of the-art mass spectrometry instruments capable of characterizing the wide range of compounds which are typically of interest in the institute. The instrumentation includes a variety of ionization options, sample introduction and chromatographic techniques required for mass spectrometry analysis of organic and organometallic compounds.
The MS Unit provides comprehensive training for ICIQ researchers to ensure optimal use of the facility and appropriate data interpretation, including periodic talks on practical aspects of MS.
In 2014, the MS Unit participated in the 20th International Mass Spectrometry Conference (Geneva 24-29 August) presenting the following poster: “Solvent-free analysis of biphenyl-hydroxyacids by APCI- Direct Insertion Probe-HRMS (APCI-DIP-HRMS)”, S. Arnal López , V. Martínez , J. Gallardo-Donaire, X. Wang, R. Martín, N. Cabello. In this poster, a solvent-free method using the Direct Insertion Probe is presented to analyze γ and δ aromatic hydroxyacids, something challenging for Mass Spectrometry due to the low stability of these compounds in solution.
MOST IMPORTANT EQUIPMENT
